Delete Your Data

RetroPals is a personal wellbeing reflection and goal-setting app, developed and operated by an independent developer, contactable at launchdesigner@gmail.com. This page explains how to delete specific data from your RetroPals account, such as individual reflections, goals, or optional data categories, without closing your account entirely.

Want to delete everything, including your account?

See Delete Your Account for full account and data deletion.

1. Delete data in the app (recommended)

RetroPals is built local-first, so most of your data lives on your own device, and you can remove it directly, no request or waiting period needed:

  • Individual reflections, goals, or challenges: open the entry and use its delete option, or go to Settings → Manage Data to remove entries in bulk.
  • AI companion chat history: delete a companion or clear its conversation from the companion's settings.
  • Health, activity, or location data: turn off automatic sync in Settings → Health & Location, and remove previously recorded entries from Settings → Manage Data.
  • Cloud sync: turning off Back up & sync in Settings → Account stops new data being mirrored to our servers; use Manage Data to also remove what was already synced.
  • BYO AI API key: disconnect it from Settings → Account → BYO AI, which deletes the encrypted key from our servers.

Deleting data this way removes it from your device immediately, and from our cloud servers on your next connection to the internet if sync is enabled.

2. Request data deletion without app access

If you no longer have the app installed, can't sign in, or would rather not use the in-app tools, you can request deletion of specific data by email instead:

  1. Email launchdesigner@gmail.com from the email address associated with your Google or Apple sign-in, with the subject line "Delete my RetroPals data".
  2. Tell us which platform you used (iOS, Android, or Web), whether you signed in with Google or Apple, and which data you'd like removed (for example: all health data, all chat history, or your entire synced dataset while keeping the account itself).
  3. We use the email address your request comes from to match it against the sign-in identity on file for your account, since RetroPals accounts are authenticated entirely through Google/Apple Sign-In and we don't hold separate account passwords to verify against. If we can't confirm your identity from the details provided, we'll reply asking for additional information before actioning the request.
  4. We will delete the requested data and confirm by email once it's done, normally within a few business days and no later than 30 days from a verified request.

3. What data you can have deleted

On request, we can delete any of the categories described in our Privacy Policy, Section 3 from our servers, including profile data, reflection and goals data, health and location data, and AI chat history, while leaving your account and sign-in intact.

4. What we retain, and for how long

Some data cannot be deleted on request because it's needed to keep your account and subscription working, or because we're legally required to keep it:

  • Account identifier and sign-in link are kept as long as your account exists, since they're what makes the account yours; delete your account (see above) to remove these too.
  • Transaction and purchase records are retained for as long as required by applicable tax and accounting law, typically up to 10 years, as described in our Privacy Policy, Section 11.

Everything else you ask us to delete is permanently removed and cannot be recovered.
