// Data deletion

Delete Your Account

RetroPals is a personal wellbeing reflection and goal-setting app, developed and operated by an independent developer, contactable at launchdesigner@gmail.com. This page explains how to request deletion of your RetroPals account and all associated data, whether you signed up with Google, Apple, or as a guest.

Only want to delete some data, not your whole account?

See Delete Your Data for how to remove specific reflections, goals, or other content without closing your account.

1. Delete your account in the app (recommended)

The fastest way to delete your account is directly inside RetroPals, while signed in. This deletes your account immediately, no separate request or waiting period needed:

  1. Open the RetroPals app and sign in, if you aren't already.
  2. Go to Settings → Account → Manage Data.
  3. Tap Delete Account.
  4. Confirm the deletion when prompted.

This permanently deletes your account, your Google/Apple sign-in link, and any data synced to our cloud servers. It cannot be undone.

2. Request deletion without app access

If you no longer have the app installed, can't sign in, or would rather not use the in-app flow, request deletion below instead. We use the email address you give to match it against the sign-in identity on file for your account, since RetroPals accounts are authenticated entirely through Google/Apple Sign-In and we don't hold separate account passwords to verify against. If we can't confirm your identity from the details provided, we'll reply asking for additional information before actioning the request. We will delete your account and confirm by email once it's done, normally within a few business days and no later than 30 days from a verified request.

DELETION REQUEST

Prefer email? Write to launchdesigner@gmail.com with the subject line "Delete my RetroPals account" instead.

3. What gets deleted

Deleting your account permanently removes, from our servers:

  • Your account identifier and Google/Apple sign-in link;
  • Your profile data (nickname, occupation, industry, values, beliefs, interests);
  • Your synced reflections, goals, challenges, and AI companion chat history;
  • Your synced health, activity, and location/weather data;
  • Your BYO AI API key, if you had one connected;
  • Your credit balance and subscription linkage in our systems.

Data stored only on your device (if cloud sync was never turned on) is removed when you uninstall the app, or immediately if you use the in-app deletion flow described above.

4. What we retain, and for how long

We keep a small amount of data after account deletion, strictly where the law requires it:

  • Transaction and purchase records (subscription/credit purchase history, without full payment card details) are retained for as long as required by applicable tax and accounting law, typically up to 10 years, as described in our Privacy Policy, Section 11.
  • Subscription status held by app store providers. Apple, Google Play, and Stripe manage your subscription and billing history independently of RetroPals under their own retention policies. Cancelling a subscription is separate from deleting your RetroPals account; see Section 5 below.

Everything else listed in Section 3 is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

5. Cancelling a subscription

Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an active app store subscription. To stop future billing, cancel your subscription directly through the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or your Stripe receipt (for web purchases), in addition to deleting your account.

6. Questions
